Training for Puppies
When it comes to training your puppy to use the Bloom Pee Pad, consistency and positive reinforcement are key. Follow these steps to help your puppy learn:
Introduction to the Bloom Pee Pad: Place the pee pad in a designated area where your puppy spends most of their time. Introduce your puppy to the pad, allowing them to sniff and explore it.
Encourage Use: When you notice your puppy showing signs that they need to relieve themselves, gently guide them to the pee pad. Use verbal cues such as "go potty" or "potty here" to help them associate the pad with the appropriate behaviour.
Reward Correct Behaviour: When your puppy successfully uses the pee pad, immediately praise them and offer a treat as a reward. Positive reinforcement helps reinforce the desired behaviour.
Consistency is Key: Consistently direct your puppy to the pee pad every time they need to eliminate. Over time, they will learn to associate the pad with the appropriate place to relieve themselves.
Patience and Persistence: Be patient with your puppy as they learn this new behavior. It may take time for them to fully grasp the concept, so continue to reinforce positive behavior and remain consistent with training.
Training for Adult Dogs
When introducing adult dogs to the Bloom Pee Pad, a slightly different approach may be necessary. Follow these steps to help your adult dog adapt:
Introduction to the Bloom Pee Pad: Place the pee pad in a designated area where your dog spends most of their time. Allow your dog to sniff and explore the pad to become familiar with its scent and texture.
Encourage Use: When you notice your dog exhibiting signs that they need to eliminate, gently lead them to the pee pad. Use verbal cues such as "go potty" or "potty here" to help them understand the purpose of the pad.
Reward Correct Behaviour: Immediately praise and reward your dog with treats or other positive reinforcement when they use the pee pad correctly. Consistent positive feedback helps reinforce the desired behaviour.
Consistency and Patience: Be consistent in directing your adult dog to the pee pad whenever they need to relieve themselves. It may take time for them to adjust to this new routine, so patience is key.
Gradual Transition: If your adult dog is accustomed to eliminating outdoors, gradually transition them to using the pee pad indoors. This process may involve gradually moving the pad closer to the desired elimination area.
